Is eBay it for out of prints?

There is also the occasional game store. If you live anywhere near Kansas City, I would recommend Monty’s. The place is a treasure trove of old games. I was able to complete my spelljammer collection there, my friend nick was able to pick up a bunch of hackmaster stuff, and last time I was there he even had a complete set of alternity books.

I agree- ebay and online stores aren't your only choices.

Check the ads in the gaming mags- back when Dragon was in print, I found an add for a store specializing in OoP games. I bought some Robo-Rally stuff from them, but they couldn't find one of the expansions.

3 years later they sent me a postcard stating that if I was still looking for that expansion, to return the postcard.

Sure, they hadn't found it...but they tried for me for 3 years! Alas, I can't remember their name...and I had found the expansion elsewhere.

For the record, that "elsewhere" was the Game Chest in Dallas- an excellent store for finding OoP games. Like the place I mentioned above, they are pretty diligent in their searching.

I'll second Game Chest in DFW for OoP games. I frequented them (and even gamed there for a long time) before I moved to my present location. They tend to have a good selection. I don't think they have an online presence though.

They have a store in Collin Creek Mall as well as the Valley View location (or at least they did the last time I was there) but the Collin Creek location is FAR less impressive as far as RPG books are concerned.

Monty's (on the old highway) is great, but the downtown location was mostly comics. Some friends and I made trips up to the former location from Topeka about once a month to to scour the OOP books for bargains. I picked up a NiB shrinkwrapped copy of the old EPT box set there for something like $35 back on 2000 or so, and I recall a buddy snagging the entire Dangerous Journeys line in NM condition for something like $30. I do miss that place.

There are also two really good used book stores in Topeka for games (Dean's Books, both stores have the same name and are owend by two brothers). The store on Kansas Ave always seemed to have more RPG rarities, but the one on 29th Street (IIRC) always had more complete game lines. Both rock hard, and they used to give good trade value on used RPG stuff, too.

I would also recommend keeping an eye out for local auctions, I have thus far found been able to find countless books for dirt cheap. While not the norm also keep an eye out for estate auctions, so far have purchased 2 separate collections; first had 600+ books and paid like 15 dollars and the second had over 2500+ books (including completed collections of both Dungeon and Dragon Mags) for $50.

With the older adventurers, outside of the full color cover, is there a particular issue with PDF or just not a fan of the format?

Printing feels expensive; it hurts with every page. I haven't done the math.

I don't own a laptop, or I would run out of a PDF at the table.

I spend too much time at my computer and would like to be able to work on an adventure elsewhere in my apartment.
