Is .hack worth getting?

First Post
I was at Best buy yesterday, and I checked out the info on the back, and it said it simulates a MMORPG. My question is how well does it do this? If it does, I'd say it's definitely worth getting. Anyone here played it? Does it live up to the hype? Thanks in advance.:)

Does a pretty good job... Obviously, it's not going be like playing with real people... That would probably be beyond the possibilities of coding... But it really does feel like playing an MMORPG.

Off topic I know but...

I had to do a double take when reading your post ... here in Oz we have a store called Best Buy and it is mainly a clothing/junk type of store :)

I am certainly enjoying .hack - it simulates a MMORPG not bad; and you don't have to put up with idiots! It's a fun RPG, with an engaging storyline.

You've probably figured this out already, but here in the States, Best Buy is a tech/electronics store. Things like computers/hardware/software, consoles & games, music, movies, TVs, stereos, etc.

15 hours in and I'm thouroughly enjoying .hack I recommend it for any RPG fans out there, especially if you have any mmorpg experience.. some of the situations are very realistic portrayals.. and the posts on the in game discussion threads are very well written.

.hack//INFECTION is a fun game.

It's also very short clocking it at ~ 20 hours even with the Omake quests and the extras spiffies from the DVD areas. It's a renter if you have a Hastings with it in stock. It's fun, but just not that long. The DVD with it is pretty neat although short.

The humor is great in it, and I love that it allows you the option of using the Japanese vocal tracks (although the Japanese Parody tracks were left out of the American release, but oh well :).

But as I said, it's really a renter. One weekend would finish if it you focus, or a week of casual play.

In case anyone was curious.. Infection is part one of a 5 part game series.. Mutation is due for release in May I believe.

Well, I bought the game a few days ago, and it's pretty fun so far. It is an interesting blend of MMORPG and a regular RPG. I haven't quite finished it yet, but it looks like I'm almost at the end. One thing I have to say is that the Noble Grunty is the weirdest thing I have ever seen in a video game.:D
