D&D 4E Is infiltration/misdirection possible in 4E?

If you want to maintain the magical elements in your espionage missions AND you want everyone to have access to these elements, there's a clear solution: design magic items for them. Rather than items that just grant invisibility, it may be a good idea to put in side-effects or drawbacks so that it's not "I cast Solve Problem X from my wand."

Example: A magical ball that, when held, makes everyone else invisible to you.

Wait, I've got one! A ring of invisibility, only it slowly saps your Healing Surges, and acts as a scrying magnet for the Big Bad Evil Guy who created it. It also slowly turns you evil.

And it can only be destroyed in a volcano.

Nah, never mind. No one would believe it.

As far as I can tell, your only option is to send a ranger or rogue -- they are only the characters that class stealth.

Skill Training
Benefit: You gain training in one skill. The skill need not be on your class skill list.

Anyone can be skilled in stealth. Skill Training is a really useful Feat in 4th Ed, and since you get more feats and combat feats are generally a lot powerful than they use to be there is little reason not to take it.

You appear to have a mistaken understanding about skill challenges.

Not really (although, it did take me quite a while to get a handle on what they were all about, and I thought the whole idea was rather stupid for quite a while).

Which isn't to say that I haven't misunderstood something improtant in this thread. Having gone looking back through the thread in order to find some stuff to quote so I can make a further point, I discover that I was originally responding to assertions that don't actually exist.

Somewhere along the way, I got the impression people were saying "You must use skill challenges", rather than "Here are some good reasons to use skill challenges."

So, I apologise for distracting the discussion with my poor reading comprehension skills.
