Is it cheating for a GM to use a published adventure?

Is this the same person who accuses anyone who doesn't start at 1st level of cheating?

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Cheers!

I hear you loud and clear. :)

No more use of the word "cheating".

Please tell me you're joking. GMs do much more "work" at the table than PCs, whether they're using a published adventure or not.

Yeah, I was hoping LostSoul forgot his ;) simley. The GM/DM does vastly more work when compared to the players. All they have to do is sit at the table and play. When the session is over they get up and leave and all they have to do is be excited until the next session. The DM has to prepare the adventure, calculate XP, determine setting info, have NPCs ready, etc. Even if he uses a published product, he still has to read through it a few times and become familiar with it, and customize it to his or her group.

There was a time that I used to frown on using published adventures but that was in my teens and early 20's when I didn't have the responsibilities that I now have. Now I view published adventures as a godsend... I just don't have the time to flesh out a campaign like I used to. Nowdays I'll come up with a general campaign overplot and then use published adventures (with a few mods) to make up the filler material.
