New server sooooooon....

The slowdown isn't bandwidth-related at all. It all has to do with the amount of activity our current server is getting nailed with. We're going to be upgrading to an over-built dual-processor system that should hopefully solve our woes.

Why are we able to upgrade? Because you guys, everyone who donated during our crisis last year, are fantastic. Thank you again for keeping this site running.

Well, none of this is official. Please take it with a bucket of salt and don't be surprised if reality is different than my estimate. But I'd say that having the new system up and running within six weeks (two weeks of additional lag time as we iron out details, two weeks to build and test, two weeks to stress-test and transfer our giganto databases) is not an entirely unreasonable estimate.

So there's an end in sight. I'll give you more definitive dates and details as soon as I have them.

THanks Kevin. I know it's hard to estimate these tpye of things but I hadn't heard anything about it in quite a while and I'm happy to hear things are moving along nicely.
