is it worth it going to GenCon Indy 2009?

It is well worth the trip. After two years of going and playing in ENW/CM games, and especially socialising with people from the boards, I really missed not being there this year. It's the cost of flights that kills me. Accommodation and food is relatively cheap, even with the pound not as strong as in previous years, but you can't get round the £700+ flight costs.

Then we should both make a promise to do it, and to meet up!

My current plan is to put £100 a month aside for it out of my wages (which I reckon I can do, especially with some overtime coming up) and pay for it out of that. Should be enough!

Nearer the time I'll be trying to sort out who I can meet up with. I'm still hoping Morrus will be heading over there, too.
Yes, the flight cost is a lot. And I still don't know how I am too book it - use a travel agency? Try to do it all myself? And when to organize it is the next question!

I booked directly through the airlines, after using various search sites to get an idea of who was cheapest. I started looking at flight prices around Christmas time, but didn't book till quite late - June, IIRC. Prices didn't change much, but I did find that routes I had been considering would become unavailable.

You might see if you can get a flight from London to Chicago and a catch a ride from someone on the boards.

Plus see if you can find roomates to cut the cost of the hotel down.

Thanks for the tips, Mike.

Unfortunately getting down to London would add more than the saving in airfare, and I've already got friends on CM I roomshare with, so that cost is very small in comparison to the airfare. Believe me - I looked into all kinds of ways to reduce my airfare!
