Is Manual of the Planes obsolete?

I think that Planar Traveller's Handbook will complement the material in MotP rather than compete with it. It is worth getting both in my opinion :)

Some mechanics may need conversion, but most won't (the planar mechanics is 3.5 DMG were lifted almost directly from the MotP) and a major portion of the book is ideas and setting fodder for your campaign.

Further, I think people are just a little too eager to shed their old books. Most of them are still useful and can be used with minimal modification (in fact, I question the utility of some "3.5 updates.") As an example, I sat down and considered what I would need to do to update certain 3.0 classes to fit with 3.5. After careful consideration, it occured to me that the classes in question needed no updating at all.

I still use my old 1E, and 2E books for my 3.5 campaign.

Never throw anything away!

esp. since the older stuff is better. :p

edit: now if you want to throw away the 3.11ed for Workgroups or 2000ed stuff be my guest.

OP, I take back what I said about the MoP. Get it, you won't regret it.

I just finished updating it to 3.5, and while perusing it, I couldn't help thinking "Oh... I forgot about this... this is cool".
