Damage Reduction --> Stops Greatsword from choping you in 2 pieces.
Spell Resistance --> Stops Fireball from french frying you

And, at last,

<Energy> Resistance
Like Acid resistance 20 (or Fire, or whatever), stops the indicated amount of damage each round.
Regardless of whether it is magical or not.

Ok, I thought up an example where it matters.

When the MAA hits an AMF it should be treat as a Flask of Acid.

You have a remarkable ability to come to conclusions that are almost, but not quite, completely wrong.

If SR stops the spell, that's a strong hint that its effects are magical. An antimagic field is (essentially) a stronger form of SR, with the ability to automatically negate supernatural abilities as well as spells. If something is stopped by SR, I see no reason to assume an AMF won't do the same.

SR stops an acid arrow, because the arrow is magical. If what you were saying was true, then there would be no reason to suppose that SR would stop it, just as it wouldn't stop an arrow enchanted with greater magic weapon. Hence an acid arrow is magical through-and-through, and an AMF will also stop it.

Ok, let me spell it out for you then.

PHB, page 281.

Spell Resistance (SR) : A special defensive ability that allows a creature or item to resist the effect of spells and spell-like abilities. Supernatural abilities are not subject to SR.

and

PHB, page 175.

... An AMF suppresses any spell or magical effect used within, brought into, or cast into the area, but does not dispel it.

Okay, tell me how AMF is anything like a stronger version of SR.

And all I'm suggesting is that the acid in the MAA is not suppressed by AMF because I don't see it as magical acid per see but rather acid created, shaped into the form of an arrow, and propelled forward by magic.

What bit of "suppresses any spell or magical effect" is so hard to understand?

You can see anything you want, including pigs flying outside your window, if you so desire.

No, my mother does not do that, but thanks anyway.

Well, it didn't have any relation to that, at all.

But it is not a nice to say to someone, so please edit it out.

In general, I think that all opionions should valued.

This is after all discussion forum not a 'banging eachother silly' forum, there are plenty of those on the net.

One of my primary codes where said by someone during the French revolution (Robspierre, I think).

- I don't agree with your opinion but I will die for your right to express it.

Shake???

AMF forces the "acid" to "wink out" - just like it does summoned creatures folks, so that is why it would be supressed in an AMF

Now - exactly why or how the acid is affected by SR ... hmmm

If the spell were Evocation - I could see how....
but it is Conjuration (creation)

Therefore, the acid is as "real" as a summoned creature... and SR IIRC does not prevent you from being whacked by a summoned creature. Therefore, you are forced to say that the arrow AND the acid are magical in nature, and there effects are stopped/supressed by SR

it is an energy attack form - which bypasses any "weapon oriented" damage reduction that I know of.

You're right. Opinions should be valued. However, I can't help but laugh at the suggestion that the acid from MAA is non-magical. You have a right to your own opinion about that and I don't care to change it. I just think it's ludicrous and rediculous. That's my opinion and I have a right to it as well. If you wanna rule that the acid is normal, fine. In fact, take this up in the house rules thread, as they might think it could be kinda cool. But this is not the place for it at all.
