Is old school a good way to introduce younger players to D&D?

I started my young sons and daughter with Warhammer Quest. Lots of minis, lots of dungeon tiles, and lots of fun props. My 11-year-old and 7-year-old play D&D (Trailblazer style) with my group every week now.
