Is the GSL unfair to the consumer?

I think if you look at all of those clauses as 100% certified events, then yes, the GSL is crazy unfair. Contracts and legal agreements are always worded like this and phrased strongly so that in the event disputes go to court, both parties were fairly warned. As it stands, I can't see WotC being so absolute on their conditions but they're phrased in legal speak so that if you do get taken to court or ordered to cease and desist, there's no blurring on the consequences. You were told this would happen if you broke the rules, so here you are. Lawyers will eat up any clause that says "...should we choose to."

Already someone has broken the GSL by release a free product well before WotC could receive his signature of compliance. We'll see what happens, but I think he will receive an email reminding him of the terms and asking him to remove the product.

And if they do revoke his access to 4E before even receiving his signature, I'll just delete this post and there'll be no evidence this point ever existed.
