I've been looking through my books and Dragons, and I can't find a newer version of it anywhere. I haven't had a chance to look at FCI, which would be the logical place for it, but does anyone know of the cambion being updated?

it is basically a template in the newest edition
Psion said:Half fiend is more appropriate, and called a cambion in a few places.
But Tome of Horrors (which has a 3.0 print version and 3.5 pdf version) has an actual cambion, which has monstrous hit dice and is not a template.

Ripzerai said:The thing I didn't/don't like about the cambion is the idea that the vast variety of demonic forms can be encompassed by a single set of stats (or two sets, if we count the alu-demon/alu-fiend). Of course, the half-fiendish template isn't much better in that regard, but at least they aren't all described as looking the same way.
The Half-Fiendish Variety article at wizards.com is a fine antidote to that specific pathology.
Psion said:Those interested in variety in their half fiends should definitely consider picking up Green Ronin's Aasimar & Tiefling. It has rules for building custom half fiends with various progenitors.
