Is there a 3.5 werefox?

Lycanthrope generally applies to any animal so if you use small dog stats for a fox as indicated in the srd you can go with that.

For foxish shapechangers there are a number of kitsunemori oriental spellcaster versions in various books. Complete Minions by Bastion Press is 3.5 and there is the Kitsunemori Japanese setting book by Dog Soul Publishing.

I tried updating the werefox and it was irritating.

Namely because the werefox had some fairly unique qualities to it - only effected Elven and Human females, had a charm-person aura, etc - that really didn't translate well to 3e, since lycanthrope can be applied to any humanoid or monstrous humanoid.

There's a fox shapechanging trickster in "Creatures of Freeport", a fox shapeshifty race in Oriental Adventures, etc etc.

Thanks - but as Rechan said below, there were some unique features to the werefox from 2E/1E days.

There's a template for a werefox in the Ravenloft Gazetteer, Volume I (pages 120-122). The publisher was Arthaus. (Though it is 3.0)

Was there anything specific you'd like to know?

Just some of the unique features - I know in the old editions, it was only females. Was it limited to only humans, elves and half-elves? I have an old 2E module that did not really give stats, but said that the werefox gradually becomes elvish over time... but, it was not a TSR or WotC module.

Yes, this is only available as a template for women. (The subtitle of the monster is "Vixen".)

The template can be added to any female humanoid creature.

In addition to normal lyncanthrope traits, it has a supernatural power called the Bewitching Gaze, which is essentially a charm person cast by a 9th level sorcerer that only affects males (save DC = 10 + 1/2 werefox's HD + werefox's Cha mod). Also, after one year of being infected, the werefox's humanoid form slowly changes to that of an elf (a trait called Elfmaid (Ex)).

There was a 3.5 edition of the Ravenloft monster book as well. I can look up the info later, after I get home.

The werefox is not in the 3.5 Ravenloft monster book. (At least, not in my copy. :) )

The Gazeteer Vol 1, not the Denizens Of Dread.

Except that it references the DoD for most of the stats.

Most irksom, only "True" Werefoxes get a hybrid form, and it doesn't give you all the stats of the hybrid form either, annoyingly.
