D&D 5E Is there a good Faceman option for rogues?

Something for the high-Charisma types . . . the charmers who talk their way out of problems.

Because I'm rewatching "Leverage" while reading "Primeval Thule," and I love the idea of a swords-and-sorcery campaign about a guy with a silver tongue, as opposed to the customary iron thews.

Any can work well really, especially if you use Expertise on Persuasion.

Assassin gets disguise and infiltration abilities. Inquisitive gets a bonus on Insight to detect lies (although the ability is kind of weak). Mastermind gets extra languages, disguise and forgery kit proficiencies, and mimic speech.

The Swashbuckler would do that pretty well. The actual skills part is something any rogue build can do pretty well if they have a high charisma. The Swashbuckler gets to leverage some of that CHA in combat and the end result can feel very Han Solo. The Mastermind would also be a very solid choice.

Swashbuckler is good but doesn't get a unique social ability until level 9.

The distance between rogue archetype features really bothers me...

Because it can get proficiency in Persuasion? That's not very unique. Sure Expertise is an option but rare for a rogue to use it on Persuasion.
No, because they get more skills than any other class allowing for a better range of social interactions skills and they have access to expertise and reliable talent. A Face would be built on more than just Persuasion IMO.

The Mastermind gets ability that lets them basically focus all their stat points away from combat. Just stand back and use the Help Action at range with both your Action and your Bonus Action and then pump your CHA to be better at it. Use your Rogue abilities to get out of trouble if someone gets to close, maybe try a sneak attack if you have advantage (compensating for your lower DEX). I bet a Mastermind could get away with 14 DEX and 18 CHA easily.

Add Actor for better social, and maybe even Inspiring Leader on top so you're also a good support to your party.

OH! The UA Class Variant also introduced a Battlemaster Maneuver that could be fun:

Silver Tongue
When you make a Charisma (Deception) check or a Charisma (Persuasion) check, you can expend one superiority die, and add the superiority die to the ability check

and you got Studious Eye that does the same for Insight and Investigation. I kinda wish there was a Rogue that got maneuvers now.
