I didn't call that one, because there is a probably a way to do it if you are a serious min/max power gamer. Spend 8 skill points on Use Magic device (cross class) to get 4 ranks in it as a 6th level character. Then spend 5 skill points as a Paladin on Spellcraft to get a +2 synergy bonus. Finally, add in your +4 bonus from 18 CHR, for a total of +8 bonus to Use Magic Device, and a +2 synergy bonus on scrolls. If someone can't find a way to get that other +1 bonus though, you are probably right (either that or he's treating the bonus on scrolls as a general bonus). It's things like that make me prefer 3.0 when some skills couldn't even be taken unless you took an appropriate class. I've played with some gamers who are very very good at throwing dice. Some of them are nice enough to admit that they can. Just because the pips come up, doesn't mean it isn't cheating. Make him throw in a cup with some randomly selected new Chessex and see what happens. It's amazing the things some gamers will go to to cheat. That isn't to say that every character with a 14 average in abilities was created by cheating (14 average is not that far out of the curve anyway, its the 18's that are a dead giveaway), but I've been playing for 20 years starting with a party of fellow junior high kids and I know cheating when I see it. This ability group has a 15.5 average (roughly 7d6 take the best 3, IIRC), and those stats don't just occur in isolation you notice. There is also a +2 sword of sharpness on the sheet. I've thrown alot of 3d6's. Why is it you never see someone with throws like this and a 4 in STR, and a 8 in WIS? Cause I assure you, that it happens more often than it doesn't if you actually throw 3d6. Heck, I've rolled up characters using the Unearthed Arcana method and still got 10's and such in some stats. But the really funny part of this troll is that the link to the 'game' he's going to enter is a link to ebay. He's probably racking in advertising dollars every time you click on it.
