Some lesser wyverns speak Draconic, but most are too stupid to understand any language. Lesser wyverns are a scourge in civilized lands, for they swoop in to take chickens, dogs, cats, and the young of many animals. Lesser wyverns are also often attracted to shiny objects, and will attempt to steal those as well (this includes helmets, coins left out, gemstones, etc.). Some lesser wyverns even develop a fascination with the trappings of humanity, and will fly up on high roof tops to watch people go about their lives. Lesser wyverns are stupid creatures, but can be trained (carefully) to be used as retrievers and as guardians, much like the Argast tribe of the Dragonsfangs Peaks have done. Wild lesser wyverns are not fierce combatants, and will seek to escape, stinging if necessary.

Combat
A lesser wyvern can slash with its claws only when making a flyby attack, and it cannot make bite, sting, or wing attacks.

Poison (Ex): Sting, Fortitude save (DC 11); initial and secondary damage d8 temporary Constitution.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the lesser wyvern must hit with both claw attacks. If it gets a hold, it hangs on and stings.

Skills: * Lesser wyverns receive a +3 racial bonus to Spot checks when flying during daylight hours.

As it should be highly evident, I extrapolated the lesser wyvern from the SRD normal wyvern... Basically, reverse engineered the creature size advancement rules, lowering its skills and BAB from the wyvern's hit dice.

So, is this all right? Do tell.

His HD should be 12 siders. So 3d12 (19 hps). I'd remove the wing attacks and Snatch ability just to clean things up (snatch is only useful against bug sized creatures anyway).

How did the d12 thing get by me?

And another thing, am I supposed to believe that this creature couldn't take off with a cat just because its tiny and not diminutive? *sigh*

Snatch removed and Hit Dice fixed.

if you were using this formula (MM p12):

(Old Size) Large to (New Size) Huge; Str +8, Dex -2, Con +4; Natural Armor +4

...in reverse, shouldn't the lesser wyvern have a Dex two better the normal wyvern (14) and a natural armor bonus of +4?

You're going about it backwards from the way I did it. I took the Huge line, and went back to Large, losing 8 STR, keeping "same" as its DEX, lost 4 CON, subtracted 1 natural armor, and added 1 to hit and AC.
