Is this ENworld 2?

Trust me, you'll know. For one the boards will be locked a minimum of 3 days during the transition. I had to cancel due to conflicting time schedules. I'm actually glad I did - during final ready prep I hit no less than 15 major bugs in the framework, including one that wiped the whole database.

Do we have a revised ETA?

Will this lock down the Circvs for those same three days?

We'll give some advance warning. I think the thing to do is to make sure that everything is perfect, and then announce it as launching in several weeks. That'll give us a chance to find and fix less obvious bugs.

And just speaking ex recto, I don't think the EN world work will shut down Circvs Maximvs other than occasional server reboots.

Will the threads currently on this site be wiped? Should I copy my what parts of my writing on these boards that I want to save before you switch over?

Nope. We're moving the database over. My understanding is that Michael will be making a full backup when the boards are turned off, then restoring that to the new software. Then there's some work to make sure everything works as expected.

Good luck with it.

Can I make a suggestion? Put a moratorium on post about 'issues' that are not bugs for about a week the change over. I think that after a week, a lot of people won't even remember what it was they were getting worked up about.

Having been through two upgrades, that's my two cent suggestion.

Several weeks? So mid-May then?

Since the database is being moved over entirely we won't have to re-register or anything silly like that will we? And what about inactive accounts? Is it possible that I could reclaim my old handle, Ku Kullin, from the days of yore when this was still Eric's site. I think I've registered it twice but I'll be jiggered if I can remember any of the access info. I'm not even sure if the e-mail addies those handles are registered to even exist anymore.

No big. I'm just as happy being an insane, inbred dwarf as a homophonic pseudo-Celt.

My only concern is for folks like myself that are stuck with modem lines. Will the new site make it impossible for me to come here without taking bathroom breaks everytime I hit "reply" or the such? (I can only drink so much water if so)
