Is this permissable here?

I tried looking around for a TOS but I couldn't find a link to it, so I figured this would be the next best place to post this question.

Is it allowable here to ask the following question?

What are good places to go (other than p2p apps like Kazaa) to find and download DND pdf's?

I know no one will believe me, but I honestly do use it only for evaluation purposes (I've bought 13 books so far by this method).

No, we get a lot of writers and poublishers here and to respect them we really frown upon aquiring books in this illegal manner. It doesn't really matter the reasons behind wanting them.

Thanks for the reply, now I won't end up creating a post that just gets locked.

Well, you can ask about legitimate sources- for instance, free downloads from the WotC site or places where you can legitimately purchase pdfs and stuff.

I have a few pdfs of out of print stuff and stuff (L1 from the WotC site, love that module!) but not too much. I much prefer a physical book for ease of reference in play. I guess I could just print a pdf at Kinkos, but why not just buy the book then? It'd be about the same price, usually.

Also many sites and companies offer freee pdf previews of their products. Anywhere frm a single page to an entire chapter!

I think ERP did that.

Unrelated to the topic at hand, but since I had about 32 dollars in print funds from the university to use up, I printed out 6 full length PDFs, bought binders for them, and printed a full color cover on my own printer. Total cost? About $2.50 each (these are nice binders!) I've now got my own version of "hardcovers" of Tournaments Fairs and Taverns, Deadly Games, Everyone Else, The Complete Guide to Beholders, The Complete Guide to Drow, and Elements of Magic Revised.

I ended up printing out Everyone Else and getting it comb-bound at Kinkos. I'm not always at the computer when I am working on world building stuff, so I really wanted a print copy. I use it all the time.

And they do the right thing for people like me who do not have the local game store to browse the books at. A pitty that other companies do not make this as a standard procedure.

And if you want to browse books, sometimes checking the product webpage at the publisher is a good option and people here can always tell you what is about it that hooks them, that is legal to ask, it is often done in the "Sell meX, Y or Z" threads. ;)
