Is this the benefit of an R&D department

The alternative -- "We know people want stuff on magic and on dragons, but SCREW THEM!" -- seems like a strange business plan. :p

:D
Luckily for me, I was still a second away from drinking a glass of water when I readed this.

How many people on this board own Complete Arcane? I'd venture the majority of them, and more than own any one of the others.
I must be one of the abberations, because I do not own any of the Complete series of books.

I have to admit to owning the Draconomicon. I own more Monster Manuals (2) and more 3rd party monster books (3) than I do other WotC monster books. Which books are you thinking of, out of curiosity?

Now, why would creating something you know people are interested in be a bad thing?
I agree with you here. Why not make something you know will sell based on a little market research?

I would've pegged you as humanoid, myself. ;)

Well, there's market research, and there's pushing too much of a good thing. I like Ice cream, cookies, and chocolate, but I don't want all three as the main course at dinner. Once might be OK, but the more they start pushing themes like that, oversaturation may kill the desire.

Complete Arcane is the only one of the complete books I owned until complete psionic. I plan on buying complete mage as well.

I believe he was talking about books based on the same concepts like Lords of Madness and Libris Mortis.

3.5 rules + Draconomicon + Dragon Magic = Council of Wyrms done right.

Seriously. I'd rejigger the setting a bit --- I like the idea of lots of half-dragons acting as the go-betweens for the dragons and the servitor races better than half-dragons as outcasts and abominations --- but I'm all over the idea of dragons-in-charge.
