That was the original cover design, IIRC. Their information must have come from an earlier release.

On eBay you can input the ISBN and it will automatically give you a cover and description (which you can override or edit). It's probably the default image for the page, in fact.

Clearly this is the first image that WotC released and it never was replaced. I'm sure eBay doesn't want to get into updating covers. Most books have multiple covers over time and the effort to catch the stray oddity wouldn't be worth the man hours spent.

Does it matter that the page counts do not match? Would hate to buy a book missing 3 (important) pages...

285 pages must be wrong, because physics requires sheets to be double-sided, the page count on books is an even number.

And if I remember my bookbinding, books are still generally bound in folded and stitched "signatures" so that page counts are some multiple of 4. 288 pages gives a nice set of either 18 16-page signatures or 9 32-page singatures

In my Spell Compendium, 285 is the last numbered page. Following it are three pages of ads.

But wouldn't you hate to miss those advertisements?

I mean, how would you know what to do, let alone buy...
