Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

I pretty much stopped buying WotC books (and stuff from a number of other publishers) when my gaming budget shrank, and I wanted to keep up on the books for the game I play the most (HERO).

However, I like D&D, and am interested in what they do with 4th. I may buy the core books, if I like what I see.

How WotC is relevant to me - "rising tide raises all boats" - when 3.0 came out, D&D sold well, but it helped the entire RPG "industry" - lots of other publishers (even those that didn't do any d20 books) did better; there was excitement about roleplaying games in general, new players came in. I am hoping that 4th does something similar, and renewed interest in D&D 4th helps out roleplaying in general.
