So what supernatural things have you seen, heard, felt?

Interesting. I thought a thread like this would actually generate some decent replies and discussion of experiences that people had that could be interpreted as supernatural in nature. I have seen or heard many things that I cannot explain... may or may not be supernatural, but definitely not easily explained. One example of something recent:

I don't remember what day this happened, but I was scared awake by a horrible nightmare. Now, I normally don't even remember dreaming at all, but I sat stright up in bed. I was scared and shaking. I dreamed about an airplane full of people heading straight towards a large object. In my dream, I saw a fighter plane following it and saw it slam into the hard surface of... something. When I awoke abruptly, I immediately thought that there had been another terror attack a la 9/11/01. Now I am not the type of person to even give that incident much of a thought, but it was so real that for a second when I woke, I thought it had happened until I got my bearings and realized I had been dreaming. I dismissed it and went back to sleep, though it took me about 30 minutes to get over it and fall back asleep.

Almost two hours later, I woke up and went to the computer to check all of my daily sites, starting with the news, courtesy of CNN.com. I was shocked to find that a passenger jet had slammed into the side of a mountain right at about the time I had the dream. It was even followed by a fighter jet for some time. That scared me more than the dream itself. I woke my wife and she saw how terrified I was as I explained the whole thing to her.

My father used to have dreams like that. If he dreamed that a family member was coming to visit from hundreds of mile away, one would almost always show up at the door that day. Occasionally, he would be able to tell us who was going to give us a "surprise" visit. Sometimes, when someone in the family lost something, he would dream of a location, walk to it and find the item. I have never had one of those dreams though, so it was very strange. I tend to have a large number of "supernatural" seeming experiences though.

My mother tells the story of seeing a UFO land in her yard when she was a high schooler. Freaked her out, she ran inside, and the next morning there was an area in the yard where it had landed where all the grass had died.

We have a history of supernatural abilities in my family. My great-grandmother was full native american witchdoctor (so I've been told). My mother was terrified of her, but tells stories of her healing people when my mother was a child, people would come from miles around. My aunt has the ability to 'take fire out of a burn'. Basically, if you get burned pretty badly, she can make it so that it doesn't hurt mcuh and heals/goes away completely very quickly with little to no scarring. My sister never gets lost, ever. She found my wedding in the north woods of New Jersey having never been near new england with no map nor directions of any kind. My great aunt (who has since passed away) used to talk with dead people, usually family members. She would call you on the phone, out of the blue, and pass on information from loved ones. Super creepy. I have dreams fortelling the future, but they are usually years in advance, so when they occur, I just experience heavy deja vu. I've occasionally pulled my wife to the side and told her "this will happen next" which creeps her out pretty bad.

I saw bigfoot in Brown County in Indiana, way out in the middle of nowhere...but we were drinking at the time. Car full of guys, smokin', drinkin'. We drove past a 'church sign' and the driver stopped the car and put it in reverse. When we looked behind the car, in the area now lit with reverse lights and the red from the brake lights, we saw something cross the road in like two steps. Everyone saw it, the car went into drive, and we tore out of there like we'd seen the grim reaper himself.

lets see...

Just before my wife and I got married, she had a dream about a man who spoke a word to her in Greek,w hich she didn't understand. She described the man to her father, who in turn said she had described her grandfather who had died a decade before she was born (keep in mind that my father in law is not sentimental and did not have pictures of his father). The word he said to her meant "Church", and it was two weeks before we married.

My extended family owns a vacation spot in a remote part of Maine. One night half the camp ground was woken up by a blinding light which hovered over the cabins, then shot out over the lake. In the morning, a section of trees had been blackened a the top of their crowns.

I once woke up to the sound of a dorrbell following a dream of a sales man who used to sell childrens clothes door to door when I was little. He had moved away thirteen years earlier. I walked downstairs in a fog and opened the door to see the very same salesman who was home on a vaxcationa nd decided to visit old clients. We had not known he was coming and hadn't heard from him in all the time he was gone.

My great uncle was child in western metro boston in the 1920's. When he was three he spent hours in his attic playing with his imaginary firends. my great-great grandmother began toi notice after some time that he was losing alot of weight, unusual for a three year old. When she asked him, he told her his friends had "told me to stop eating so I can stay with them".

My wife had a drama teacher who was very close to her. he had been very sick and hospitalized but was supposedly getting better. We came home one night and I checked the messages to hear a woman, who had dialed the wrong number and addressing a woman who we didn't know, that my wife's teacher had died that day. I dialed *69 and discovered that the numberthe woman had dialed was close to ours, but not easy to do mistakenly as the last digit she dialed and the one she meant to dial were on oposite sides of the key pad.

So no floating apparitions or vortexes, but weird enough.

As a kid, maybe 6-7 years old, we had an old Pinto. My dad likes to play with cars so he added some guages to the car for no apparent reason other than they looked cool. We were driving home one day and I was sitting in the back seat leaning forward into the front staring at one of these guages (I think one measured RPMs). And I kept wondering to myself, "What would happen if needle went all the way left?" Within 20 seconds, the gauge's needle went all the way left and the car died. It started right back up, but was just a very strange coincidence. The car never died on us before either (and this was before I knew they blew up if you got rear-ended).

When I was about 10, I got a christmas present from my grandmother that was an odd shape. I grabbed it and go, "Oh, a golf putter!" I almost never played golf, except maybe once a year. And I never asked for even a single golf club ever. My grandmother was upset that I was listening to phone conversations. I dunno, maybe I overheard something and it didn't register until I saw the strange package, but just is very unusual.

Interesting topic, and one that I’m sure as hell qualified to talk about. It’s good to know there are people here on these boards who know that stuff like this happens. An old acquaintance of mine, Louis Friend, advised me not to talk about this, but since you guys will believe me, I want to tell my story.

My house has a ghost. She’s been haunting here since I moved in last year, and though she’s pretty civil and not scary, I can’t say I’m thrilled to have her around. I think she’s a little girl, judging by the giggles I occasionally hear. I can’t have any pets because they get freaked

Yeah, there she goes again. She just ruffled the pages of her coloring book. Apparently she’s displeased or something.

About the coloring book, after the first few times she spooked me, I left one out on the floor, along with a box of crayons, as sort of a peace offering. She must have liked them, because she’s stopped knocking things over, but she does still play pranks and seems to want attention a lot. I wish she’d leave me alone. It’s not like I’m her father. I don’t have to take care of

Well, that’s a first. :):):):), the lightbulbs overhead just all burst. What the hell’s I’ll be right back.

No ghosts, ghouls, or prophetic dreams, here. However, I did see a UFO once when I was a kid. I thought it was a dream for a very long time, until the friend I "dreamt" I saw it with told me he remembered it, too! Whoa!

There's a thread somewhere around here, that has a long list of bad ones. If anyone remembers it, the black-eyed children were the scariest.

Me? I don't get the scary ones. Or even the "message from the other side" ones. Nope. I get the stupid ones. The ones where the "darkness men were not supposed to know" just phoned it in.

Saw a lawn flamingo (yep, the pink ones) turn it's head and open it's mouth at me one night, when I like 3. The next day, the durned thing was gone.

Got woken up one night by a tapping on my window. Saw a Bart Simpson doll sitting in the tree, kicking the window. He grinned, then ran off.

I lost my glasses once, when I was reading. I had sat them down on the chest next to my bed, and when it was time to go to my sister's house, we couldn't find them. Five people tore up my room looking for them, and couldn't find them. Even picked the chest up three times, turning it upside down each time. I give up, and leave. No sooner than I get over to my sis's house, my mom calls. The glasses were on top of the chest.

I have "prophetic" dreams, sometimes. But nothing freaky, or even helpful. Usually it's just the order of commercials. Or that Dillon's is having a special on meat, and a week later, they do.

I think the only time I ever came close to anyting really decent was when I was a teenager, and got sick. Just common cold stuff, nothing even serious. I thought I saw my mother standing in my bedroom doorway, but when I woke up, the door was closed, and my mother said she hadn't checked in on me during the night. She said it was probably my great-grandfather, looking in on me.

Man, if there was ever a word to describe supernaturally mediocre, that would be me...
