Items made by Paladins

Getting back to the original question about paladins being able to create more than just a few items listed...

One way is detailed in Weapons of Legacy (sort of), and in fiction: Use.

There are magic items in legend and fiction that were not created intentionally. Instead, by their use, they became imbued with special powers. So, a paladin who makes a habit of slaying demons might find his sword, tempered in their ichor, has become a Demonbane sword.

Such a system has some advantages- instead of XP, the main cost is time. The enchantment becomes, in effect, another treasure, and no "mystic process" need be involved.

Yes, I always liked the idea of the Paladin's weapon gaining abilities and enhancements from use/level. Kind of replacing the Summon Mount ability. More of a flavor thing I guess as I think Paladins should wield their deity's favored weapon anyway (as a point of pride if nothing else). I also find it weird to think that some flaming burst, holy avenging greatsword doesn't have a long and glorious history, but rather was made by Schmendrick the Mage last week. :\
