It's my first time!

I'll echo once more: The WHOLE REASON for this sub-forum is to help people find games to play in that are being run by ENWorlders. Just use the Master Threads that are stickied at the top of the forum to scan through games that you are interested in to see if there are slots available. I am running and playing ONLY pickup games for the second year in a row. It was totally awesome last year.

IF you are staying near the convention center then you will never need to go anywhere else. Anything you could need will be there. You can spend about as much or as little money as you want. I'd budget between $5 and $10 for each meal if you want to eat on the cheap side but that doesn't HAVE to translate into unhealthy. There is at least a Subway and probably several other places that have inexpensive but healthy food.

Finaly, when in doubt, come by the ENnies booth. It is the common stopover for the ENWorld crowd and you can almost always find some cool people to hang with there, as well as likely a pickup game starting in the near future.

One piece of advice we could use... My group will be looking to do some grocery shopping when we get in on Tuesday. Are there any grocery stores near by? We're staying at the new Homewood Suites so we'll have a full kitchen.

Here is a list of downtown groceries:

The only real grocery store downtown is O'Malia's Food Market, at 320 North New Jersey Street (zip 46204).

Google Map

Depending on where you're staying, the easiest way to drive there is to go up to New York Street (one way east), and take it to New Jersey Street (one way north).

The free "Blue Line" bus also runs fairly close. You would need to get off at the northeast corner (near the City Market and the Interim Central Library), then walk north 2-3 blocks and east 1 block.

There is a block in blue between Alabama and New Jersey (north of New York) with two "P" parking indicators. The northeast quarter of that block is a parking lot... O'Malia's is in that block, just west of that lot.

My hotel, Amerisuites, near the Airport has a courtesy van that goes to and from the airport. I am hoping it also has one to and from the convention center since the convention is the biggest single money maker of the year for them.

Most hotels have courtesy vans that take you to places within, usually, 10 miles of their hotel. Meaning the pricier hotels. Not places like motel 6.

You might want to call the hotel to make sure. I know that GenCon LLC isn't running shuttles out to the airport hotels this year, but I don't know about the individual hotels out there.

And here I am, six years and five Gen Cons later. I remember thinking of all of you as fatbeards and vaguely hoping I wouldn't run into any of you. ;)
