It's the little things...

I live in Arizona, my hands are a bit oily, but not overly so. I get this problem in one in about 5 gaming books, mainly, but almost 70% magazines. Though not so bad as this usually.
There are some things I wish that they would have worked on a bit more before putting this product to the printer, I know there are always some things that get away, but there is a significant portion of the gaming world that is waiting with baited breath for the demise or revolution this will cause. And treating the first overpriced adventure as mildly as they did with this is a bit of a slap in the face.
This said, and I'm a heavy supporter of the 4E, so to say that they have let me down just a little bit would be accurate.
I hope the Core books are a little more up to the wear and tear of being at the gaming table. I'm not even totally sure that KoSF will last to make it to another adventure.

Are all the other ones going to be like this, can we expect one and a half uses' out of each adventure?
Just wondering out loud.

The pages may smear, tear an deteriorate but at least it's in color... priorities, people! That's what "high quality" printing means in this day and age of higher-cost RPG products, right? It's not functional as a reusable adventure like in the old days, but, gee, it looks pretty!

Ok, sorry about that. Just had to get it off my chest. ;)

Some things I've been wondering... (I don't have a copy yet.)

People who have the smudging problem:

  • Do you live in a warmer area? (ie whats the temp been like)
  • Do you live ina more humid area?
  • Do you have oilier skin?

  • West Texas. 105 degrees or so. Fahrenheit (too lazy to look up proper spelling), obviously.
  • 10 inches of rain a year doesn't sound like much, unless you're here the day we get it. So... no.
  • Not that I've noticed, but I don't really have a scientifically valid frame of reference.

People without smudging problems:

  • Do you live in a colder climate? (ie whats the temp been like)
  • Do you live in a dry climate?
  • Do you have dry skin?

  • West Texas, 95 degrees in the heat, but I read at night when its more in the 70s or even lower - I work third shift
  • normally extremely dry; right now it's going from super dry to 70% humidity based on stormfronts moving through
  • I have palms soaked with the anxiety of a decade of life as an incompetent graduate student, they drip like a faucet and dogs run in fear from their unnatural clamminess. They're so awful I can use them as a basic attack. Thank-Heaven for my great sense of humor.

I do worry about the covers, but I think the interiors are in good shape thus far. If I can I'm going to find some transparent folders to insert them in.

The Overall Layout is awesome, and I do wonder if the weird covers serve that since they slide in and out very easilly where normal paper and the maps do not.

What are the odds of two us posting back to back?

It's been wiggin me out too.

On the other hand - West Texas ain't exactly the most specific geographical description. We could be in different time zones even.

True enough. But my curiousity has been piqued. Mind if I fire off an e-mail the addy you have set for your profile, so I don't have to derail this thread further to sate my unconscionable search for knowledge?
