I've got a rep!

From last night's game:

One of my players said:
"Alan tends to change spells"

Heh. Oh really? This came up because I struck down a spell from the Ultimate Divine Spellbook (and had the unspoken desire to nerf two others, but let one stand because it was convenient for the flow of the adventure). And last session, I extrapolated on what the effects of speak with plants would do if you cast in on Ygdrassil while it was being corrupted by a Far Realm entity.

But I didn't know I had a rep. Ah well, at least they know where I stand and won't be shocked when it happened in the future.

DMs, what's your rep?

Naked and on Fire, a good deed never goes unpunished, there are no happy endings...etc

My players never worry so much as when things are going their way. :D

"Nothing is ever what it seems in his games."

Which is cool sometimes, but frustrating sometimes. :D

Because the game can be too predictable even when nothing ever is what it seems.

Another one is:

"He doesn't really know the rules for combat."

:(

Cheers!

My players absolutely hate it when they get a new toy (powerful weapon, armor, item, etc.). It usually means they are going to need it to barely survive an upcoming encounter.

Mine is "will DM".
I used to have a "Killer DM" rep with my old group. A few TPKs will do that for you. This doesn't apply to my current group, though. Yet. :]

I have a reputation for dashing my player's plans. Any time they start planning something, they make comments on how it's just going to fail, anyway, because that's the sort of thing I do.

Which I suppose is somewhat true; about 2/3'rds of the plans they've made have gone wrong for them. However, this usually isn't my rail-roading clever plans insomuch as I already had something planned ahead of time that winds up screwing over the PC's.

The thing that set this all off was when they spent nearly a session planning on assassinating someone. Unbenownst to them at the time, the character they were planning on offing was who I intended to be the main antagonist of the game. He was 20th level, they were 6th or so. They dropped a couple silences, hold person's, and likely a bit more on him. Invisible PC's popped out of the woodwork and started beating on him. When the NPC started whipping out the silent, quickened hold person's that had been written down on the NPC's stats for months ahead of this, the party realized they'd made a bit of a faux pas.

Of course, I also figured that the PC's were probably going to do something like this, so their plan didn't spring a total party kill, either.

Then other times their plans get screwed up not becaused of something like that, but because it turns out whoever they were planning on tricking or ambushing or whatever is a perfectly reasonable individual and helps them or trades whatever they were looking for without fuss.

Same here, though in both cases to a lesser degree :). Oh, and I also seem to have a rep for banning spells (ever played a fire-specialized mage without access to Scorching Ray? :heh: ).
