Heh, I think I'm to quick to make house rules/change the game.

Player1: Can I edit the Paladin's code?
Me (reclining in chair): Yup
Player2: Can we play Gestalt?
Me: Sure, EVERYONE! Your god speaks, add another classes benefits up the fifth level for it. IM me for details later tonight.

YOu get the idea, it's not really a bad thing, sometimes.

I tend to find ways to challenge the PCs and mitigate their really cool toys/abilities. An example:

The PCs were in an underground hobgoblin stronghold and had been fireballing bad guys with impunity for 2 sessions with a wand of fireballs (20 or so charges left). They found the big bad hobgoblin leader in his throne room, with a helpless elf girl chained up right in front of him. They were a bit ticked off they couldn't use the wand on him.

I have a tendency to only dish out cool abilities and level ups after the characters experience horrible psychological trauma. I believe my players' common joke is "You can never feel love again...gain a level." :D

There is a fiend behind every curtain - not me behind the screen, but Arch-Devils and Demon Princes. I'm big on Hellish and Abyssal politics and their role in the prime.
