Jan 18, 2011 update

I want to know when we'll be able to house rule feats and powers. Until then, I will have a difficult time switching to the online builder. Too much fixing to do afterwards. I already have to go at it with a pen on a few people's sheet's for the secondary damage rolls that don't add miscellaneous bonuses. I like making the occasional custom item too, but I've stopped doing that due to CB difficulties.

Perhaps this is why the books were held back? To give the DDI time to be 'fixed' so that when new stuff wasi ndeed ready to be put in, instead of lying to the public for months about it, they just moved the books themselves back so that they can tackle it head on.

I know it didn't say anything in the OP, but has there been any news about Monster Builder?

The last update I got was the 'non-update' which eliminated some redundant and math-wrong monsters.

I thought the whole point of the online CB was that there wouldn't be monthly scheduled updates. How is this setup any different from before?

It's still smart for them to do periodic updates rather than a steady stream of small changes, at least for most non-critical bugs. It also makes sense to "batch" rules changes so that they update the way a set of related feats, features and powers interact all at once, e.g. if they updated the language on Regeneration they would want to touch all the relevant references at once.

Anyway, I never had the impression that there was a single "whole point" to the change. The online CB gives them a lot of flexibility, and publication scheduling is just one part of it.

I will dig around and poke some people, but my gut feeling is that the December update is the last that we will see to the Monster Builder.

While you're poking let Wizards know that my inclination to buy into their digital offerings is not greatly enhanced by their tendency to drop support for them with very little warning.
