She didn’t want it misspelled, he didn’t want a legal issue and also was tired of seeing hate directed either at him or at someone else.

So rather than name it something else that could have led to another legal issue or trying to come up w a term that could mostly fit though maybe not perfectly, he just chose his name.

Alright. Ok. His book he can call it what he wants.

It isn't quite just that. The key is that it has multiple routes that loop back on one another. You can have a non-linear dungeon without that: the main stairs lead down to a central chamber and then there are rooms in all directions with no set path.
Kind of like a starburst pattern. That's one type of level design, for sure; and starburst is as good a name for it as any. The sample-of-play dungeon in the 1e DMG uses this format, I think.

Another type is dendritic, where there's numerous dead-end branches (and sub-branches) off a single "stem" route.

There's another type of design that kinda resembles the freeway map around Indianapolis, where there's a "ring road" with various ways of getting to and through the center of it. The lower level of S4 Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth uses this format, except if you squint there's actually two ring roads, one inside the other.
But that isn't a "warren" (which is the term I have decided to use until a better one comes along).
My only issue with using "warren" as a name is I once had a player named Warren, and complex looping dungeons weren't really his preference. :)

Er...poison gas? Where's that in S4?
It's still in the YP version, but it was a much bigger deal in the original torment version, which was if you don't get out of the lower levels within an hour (real time) you die. The whole thing is designed as a race. If you waste time backtracking, you die. If you waste time looking for loot, you die.

I believe you are thinking of C1 - The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan.
