Jim Roslof, old school TSR artist

I didn't recognize the name when I clicked on this topic, but I certainly recognize the artwork, especially Inverness and Demonweb Pits. This is sad news about his condition.

I just read this at GROGNARDIA:

"According to Jeff R. Leason, who worked at TSR in the late 70s and early 80s as an editor and designer, artist Jim Roslof passed away peacefully this morning. "

RIP, Mr. Roslof, and thank you for giving us your art to inspire our games and imagination.

Shame :(

It's rather sad to see many of those old time gamers who brought us the early iterations of D&D passing away. It's a loss to the game, IMO, no matter what you play or what your preferences are.

:( indeed...

As noted elsewhere, not just talented but very humble about his legacy personally and in introducing and encouraging many of the best known artists within the RPG field, as witness the dearth of information about Jim online. The spotlights shine more often on those who actively seek fame...

n.b. Messages of condolence can also be left directly on the guestbook here, if desired.

Very sad :.-(

Of all the great old TSR artists, Jim was in my top 3 along with Dee & Willingham. Something about that "Fantasy Supers" look all three excelled at captured my imagination the most despite the fact that Sutherland & Trampier were the main illustrators in my formative D&D years.
