Yep, amazingly enough he has stopped his continual ranting and attacks upon those who denegrate his products.

Reading through this 900 Word though does bring one thought to mind.

I see his 900 Words get as much editing and proof reading as his published material gets. :D

Sorry, just had to say it.

You know, at some points it does seem like EN World is continually thrashing Jim Ward and his books. Can't we just move on or at least not be so rude about it? And I'm not referring to DocMoriartty's post here, but in the past Jim Ward bashing has seemed like "the cool" thing to do around here and frankly I really think that makes us look bad.

Yeah at times there has been quite a bit of it. The main problem though is lots of it has been earned by Mr Ward.

He talks the talk but he certainly does not walk the walk.

Well, I think he is frustrated by the sheer volume of nasty posts he has gotten. Everyone has their limit and we certainly have gone beyond any reasonible limit with the comments made. It's like people are holding a grudge against him for nothing. I can understand reviewers being a little upset with his comments, but a vast majority of the people on EN World are not reviewers. Some people don't like his products, but that doesn't mean you have to voice your disliking every time a thread of this topic comes up. It just seems that many people are attacking him for no good reason, or really for no reason. Not that attacking him with a good reason is something to be done, either. The people of EN World have alienated one of the bigger d20 companies. How can we be the goto source for all things d20 if we chase some of the people who we don't agree with away? I'm not defending what Mr Ward did, but I think what we did in retaliation was much worse.

I noticed that Fast Forward does not have any products up for ENnies, which may mean they are uninterested in the process. I think it's a shame, and it would be nice if we could put it all behind us.

I think as EN World members, we should take the high road, and those that still have an issue with Fast Forward, speak with your checkbook.

I'd rather put energy into finding out more news on 3.5. :)

In the long run, is that really the issue, though? How many conflicts are blown way out of proportion and cease to end because both sides feel the other has "earned it"?

"He earned it" should not be a valid excuse for us (collectively) to behave poorly ourselves.

Um,

Who is Jim Ward, and why should I care?

He's owner of Fast Forward Games, and if you don't know him or his products there really is no reason to concern yourself with this.

I agree with Crothian - I don't care for his products, but I've never met the man, so I'm not about to diss him here or in private. It might be one thing if I had met him, determined he was an ass (or not), and then went on with things.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

You know what they say about opinions.

It's a chicken and the egg dilemma. Yes, folks can take the high road. However, some of Jim Ward's beefs are with the industry and customers at large, and he's very vocal about it. He draws fire from other places other than ENWorld also. People who speak their mind or have very strong opinions will inevitably get slammed. It's also the nature of reviews and feedback via the Internet...anyone can post their views and anyone can respond. It's a wonderful thing, but this is a big downside. :shrugs:
