Joey (the Friends spinoff) does not suck

Oh, it is CERTAINLY no Scrubs. Scrubs is simply 30 minutes of the best TV out there right now. Not even a fair comparison.

I'm thinking more along the the lines of, "wow, I really thought this show was going to stink but I was entertained the whole time - I guess I'll have to watch next week" type of thing. :)

I had not realized it started yet. I watched it for the first time on Thursday as that was the new CSI and the new ER and I just thought Joey would start then too. Anyway I thought it was rather funny. i always liked Drea from the sopranos. And is the nephew the pot smoking genius from Road Trip? he is pretty good too.

A ringing endorcement... :p

I'm giving it a miss. I felt the initial character was played out halfway through the previous series and I wasn't greatly impressed by Matt LeBlanc's acting when they tried to add depth to the character around that time. I don't think the change of scenery or the addition of some extra characters (despite some of the talent they have brought in) is going to breath enough life into "Joey" to warrant the extension. Unlike Frasier (coming out of Cheers), I just don't have confidence that there is enough there that is left to explore. If it lasts a couple of years and proves me wrong, I'll catch up with it in reruns.

I think that Joey really needs if it wants to survive is to build up a strong group
of supporting cast. Joey himself isn't the strongest character to build a show on.

I was thinking the same thing myself. Overall it has been pretty good (far better than other thurday shows NBC has tried to pawn off) but I too was thinking that I will watch for at least a dozen more episodes to see how the cast comes together and where they are going (If I don't like a show I won't generally get past 1-2 episodes) Joey on his own won't be able to carry the show on his own. Frazier was a great spin off not just because of the named lead but the awsome supporting cast. Would Frazier has been so good without Niles and Martin to play off him?
