It has no relevance. It's not going to change the way anyone thinks about Dungeons and Dragons. People who say and believe, and support what Goldfarb aren't going to change their mind about people who play D&D. They think me and you and all of us are morons, and that's that. End of story.
That a political operative would compare the opponent to something he judges to be worthy of ridicule is hardly surprising. It's political shorthand these days to find some key phrase to tag your opponent with.
That Goldfarb's statement burned a lot of people in this community isn't surprising. It hits home to a lot of people for a lot of reasons.
But Michael Goldfarb's opinion just proves that he's an ignorant man.
The more important question is what version of D&D do you think will be played in the White House if Obama is elected or if McCain is elected? I'm thinking Pathfinder or 4e with Obama and OSIRIC or Hackmaster with McCain.
[EDIT] Let me just say, I'm not defending Goldfarb, nor am I indicating support for either candidate. I just think we'd all be better off getting out there and showing people that D&D as a past-time has just as much to offer, or more, than television, bingo, scrabble and attending dog shows. Not to ridicule television, bingo, scrabble or attending dog shows.
