John McCain and Michael Goldfarb Slam D&D

It has no relevance. It's not going to change the way anyone thinks about Dungeons and Dragons. People who say and believe, and support what Goldfarb aren't going to change their mind about people who play D&D. They think me and you and all of us are morons, and that's that. End of story.

That a political operative would compare the opponent to something he judges to be worthy of ridicule is hardly surprising. It's political shorthand these days to find some key phrase to tag your opponent with.

That Goldfarb's statement burned a lot of people in this community isn't surprising. It hits home to a lot of people for a lot of reasons.

But Michael Goldfarb's opinion just proves that he's an ignorant man.

The more important question is what version of D&D do you think will be played in the White House if Obama is elected or if McCain is elected? I'm thinking Pathfinder or 4e with Obama and OSIRIC or Hackmaster with McCain.

[EDIT] Let me just say, I'm not defending Goldfarb, nor am I indicating support for either candidate. I just think we'd all be better off getting out there and showing people that D&D as a past-time has just as much to offer, or more, than television, bingo, scrabble and attending dog shows. Not to ridicule television, bingo, scrabble or attending dog shows.

Can we please lock this junk already - junk applying to both the original bad offhand joke and folks trying to score cheap political points over this.

Goldfarb is an a@@hole that should be purged from the earth. Besides those comments, I recently read in Radar magazine about how his false reporting and claims lead to The New Republic magazine dis-owning articles written by an actual Iraqi soldier that described some of the harsh realities and actions of his unit and making him look like a liar.

False reporting? The army's own internal investigation of the events in that New Republic article (released via the freedom of information act) found the stories to be false. Say what you will about his dumb comments on D&D, but Goldfarb's reporting on that other incident wasn't "false reporting" as much as some might want to believe.

Shemeska,
"The first casualty in War, is Truth".

No offence to the military, my respects to them, but simple fact is: never trust ANYONE on any side of a war, as alas, passions are too high, and even decent men can do horrible things on all sides....and then politicians...well, politicians are to facts, as Nilbogs are to reality ;)

Hm, maybe an idea for an adventure in all that...(seriously)

Anyway, fun and D&D are more important than politics!
"And now, for something completely different...!" :D
