The only good thing about Daredevil was Bullseye, and even not super good at that.
Correction. The only thing good about Daredevil was Jennifer Garner in leather. Even if it was only for a few minutes. ;)

I do not have the book with me, but I am pretty sure Clark was in Patriot Games. If I remember correctly he was the one that instructed Ryan on the the use of the Browning Hi-power 9mm.

Hey Decado, I am Fubar from the old Interplay boards. Where do you go now for gaming discussion now that Interplay is basically defunct?

Hmmm.

I actually really liked The Sum of All Fears. I liked Affleck in it. The problems that the movie had weren't Affleck's fault. He did a good job. I really liked Schreiber as Clark, too. When the Without Remorse plans popping up after The Sum of All Fears I thought that continuing the character with the same actor would have worked just fine. I have never read any of the novels so I only have the films to go on - take it as you like. :)
Shreiber did do a good job as Clark. Better than I thought he would, actually. If Shrieber were to return as Clark in Without Remorse, I wouldn't complain. My favorite on-screen portrayal of John Clark is still Willem Dafoe, though.

And I did like The Sum of All Fears movie. I thought that it was overall a well-done, suspenseful movie. There were only three things I really didn't like about it: Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan (he's no Harrison Ford, not by a long shot), changing the identities of the terrorists, and the baffling logic behind the terroists actions (if America and Russia nuke each other, fascism will become popular again? Riiiiight...).

Nope. In the novel of Patriot Games, Jack Ryan's pistol instructor was a Marine sergeant. It was not John Clark.

So who would be everyone's pick for the casting of John Clark? When I first read Without Remorse, I immediately thought of Nicolas Cage...
Not sure that he would work as he's a bit old for Clark's age in "Without Remorse". A while back they actually had Gary Sinese signed to play it, but he's now gotten too old for the part too.

If I remember correctlly, Clark was sort of in Cardnial of the Kremlin. He was only in for a page or two, and they did not say it was Clark until a book or 2 later. He helped Ryan out of a tight spot.

They have yet use the right actor for Clark. Clark's a)A big burly guy b)Old enough to have a daughter in her early twenties.

Although I think it's pretty obvious after Sum of All Fears that regardless of what the books say, they're going to try to keep the characters young for some kind of focus group appeal - and Schreiber did do a good job. (even if the movie itself was only ok, and changing the terrorists to Nazis had to be one of the most bone-headed PC ideas in recent history)

In The Cardinal of the Kremlin, Clark is the guy who
smuggled the wife and daughter of the head of the KGB out of Russia so that he could defect to the United States.

In fact, Cardinal of the Kremlin was the very first Clancy novel that contained Clark.

Good call Dark Jezter. I went back and checked Patriot Games and you were right. I have no idea how I ever came up with the idea Clark was the Marine Sergeant.

ShadowX, I am not sure you have the right guy. I do not recall using the Interplay Boards although it is possible. I mostly hang out on the the Reaper Miniatures website and occasionaly here.

I think Rainbow Six would make a great movie as long as they kept the fights realistic, more along the lines of Blackhawk Down type movie. I thought Dafoe did a good job as Clark and Ford is great as Ryan. I hated the movie version of The Sum of All Fears with Affleck.
