Joker pic for Dark Knight

Not to mention he's MUCH too old to be a decent Joker right now. This Joker has to be young for a young Batman to handle.

Mmu1,

I trust Nolan and Bale has proven to me he's got the chops as Batman. So now we'll see if Nolan can do the same with Ledger or not.

Oh, I was thrilled to hear the guy who did Memento was doing a Batman movie - both because I loved that film, and because what Singer did with the two X-Men movies (the second one in particular) totally sold me on having "unusual" (pun unintended) directors do superhero stuff.

Batman Begins certainly confirmed me in my belief that Nolan's the right guy for the job, and I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

I just find Heath Ledger really irritating (and overrated) - which is pretty unlikely to ruin the movie for me, since I can compartmentalize pretty well (for example, Johhny Depp as himself annoys the hell out of me, but I love the Jack Sparrow character, and I think Depp did a great job), but I'd still rather see an actor I like instead. (and my first choice would have been Adrian Brody)

I have to admit, though it is crude it has a certain maniacal appeal to it.

....Bring back Jack!

No.

I for one am more than ready to welcome a Joker with nothing whatsoever to do with the Burton/Nicholson version. With Nicholson, I kept expecting him to break down a door with an axe and say, "Here's Johnny!," then run around with a bandage on his nose for half the movie (and maybe taking a time-out long enough to seduce a couple of 80's neo-pagan chicks while talking about being a 'horny little devil'). The guy plays exactly the same character in everything.

I admit that I'm a bit leery of Ledger as the Joker (because I really haven't liked him in much of anything to date), but I was equally leery of Bale as Batman, and was won over in the end. So bring it on! :)

Regards,
Darrell

Actually, I always thought the "Jack" persona that comes up when Jack plays a villain resembled the Joker in many ways. He could probably pull off the "more serious" Joker intended for this movie, but I guess too many people would have the "old Jack" sticking in their minds too much for it to work. So they had to go with someone else.

IMO, Jack's a much better actor when he's not playing a villain. When he's not tempted to ham it up, he's pretty good.
