With the snows of winter receding, the scouts of Citadel Hoarfrost have spotted an unexplored cave nearby in the Buried Vale. As their first assignment, a group of young dwarven adventurers has been selected to journey to the vale and delve the recent discovery. But is their assignment all that it seems, and what dangers await them in the Buried Vale?
Journey to the Buried Vale is a 2-hour standalone adventure set in the Forgotten Realms™. It is designed for a party of five 1st level dwarven adventurers.
The adventure takes place in and around the small dwarven stronghold of Citadel Hoarfrost, which is tucked deep within the Icerim Mountains of northeastern Faerûn. If you wish to move the location of Citadel Hoarfrost to elsewhere in the Realms, it will not have an impact on the adventure. In addition, it is entirely possible to use another dwarven stronghold such as Citadel Felbarr, Citadel Adbar, or even Mithral Hall for the origin of the adventure by simply adjusting the necessary names.
Finally, the Journey to the Buried Vale includes pregenerated characters and printable battle maps designed to expedite play. The use of these resources is optional.
