July 2009 - What are you reading?

I've never read the Prism Pentad, but I just picked up all five books from paperbackswap.com and I'm reading through them. Finished The Verdant Passage this morning, and I have to say I really missed out on these when I was focused on the Dragonlance fiction instead.

The first three books were very good. Glad you're enjoying them.

Reading 100 Bullets vol 1-4.

Enjoying it quite a bit.

Still finishing up Gates of Night also. Not sure what I will read at work when I finish this novel.

Currently The Prose Edda, the foundation of Norse mythology.

Correction - it is the foundation of modern understanding of Norse mythology. The Norse had myths long before the Prose Edda was written down.

I'm currently reading The Blood Knight, third in the "Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone" series by Gregory Keyes. Sometimes I just need an epic fantasy fix.

(Star Wars) Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight. I was looking for a book after Revenge of the Sith to prep for my Dawn of Defience SW Sage game. It is interesting so far. It is kinda noir lite. Its fun to get back into these pulpy books.

Sword of Rhiannon.

Not bad if a little short.

Loved the 'henchman' in this one.

The older books in the Planet Stories line by Paizo tend to have a Moonglum like character. My favorite thus far is Elak of Atlantis' sidekick.

Currently The Prose Edda, the foundation of Norse mythology.

Huh, I would have thought that would have been more like the Elder (Poetic) Edda, as Sturluson is definitely in the Christian era and in Iceland. Still, as there are no real tales of the goddesses, our knowledge of the Norse religion is, at best, limited.

As for me, I am re-reading the short story collection Cthulhu 2000. I'm scouring my local public library system for some other collections of Cthulhu-esque stories.

On audiobook I am listening to Beggars in Spain, a science fiction novel about people who have been genetically modified to not need sleep.

I got a book called The House of Cthulhu from the public library. It appears to be a fantasy novel in the Conan tradition blended with Cthulhu mythos stuff. I don't yet have a good sense of whether I will enjoy it - I'm about half a chapter in and it hasn't gripped me yet.

I set aside Beggars in Spain - it just suddenly bored me for some reason. I have moved on to the audiobook of Desolation Island.
