I saw the Hurt Locker already at SXSW. It was pretty good.

It's about a group of army specialists that take care of IED's. It's definitely a suspense-filled movie. The action isn't over the top or anything either - very gritty and realistic.

I think most everyone in the audience liked it, and it was well-attended.

Thanks for the report. Do you feel the explosions (which I assume they have in fair quantity) are worthy of Big-Screen viewing? Does it feel it greatly benefits from a Big Screen viewing?

Kids want to see Ice Age and I want to see Potter. However...before that there is Terminator, UP and possible Star Trek and of course Transformers

Yeah, there's explosions, and while they're grand and great for the movie, they're not what drives the action in any scene. For example - one of the tense moments in the movie is when the main guy is attempting to disarm a IED in a car by a school. The rest of his squad is watching for snipers, and some guy in a building adjacent comes out with a video camera, waving to the American's.

Cue tons of jump shots to build tension, and then things amazingly go right. That's the kind of drama and intensity that drive this film. Usually the explosions happen when something goes wrong, and people die.

Another scene is where there's an Iraqi Civilian with a bomb strapped to him, and you, as an audience member, have to deal with the fact that the soldiers in the movie have no knowledge of whether or not he's an enemy, whether there's a remote detonator nearby, nothing - yet they have to try to help him, because it's the right thing to do.

So I dunno. It's definitely worthy of the big screen, and I definitely recommend it to people who can handle it.
