Jump Attacks?

Aside from feats that specifically allow such actions, you can't do this by RAW. When you jump you can take no action until you complete your jump.

If I recall, even leap attack assumes you end your jump adjacent to your ally, not make the attack mid-air. :Edit, I did recall:

The second sentence of the Benefit paragraph should
read as follows:
If you cover at least 10 feet of horizontal distance with
your jump, and you end your jump in a square from
which you threaten your target, you deal +100% the
normal bonus damage from your use of the Power
Attack feat.

Action:
None. A Jump check is included in your movement, so it is part of a move action. If you run out of movement mid-jump, your next action (either on this turn or, if necessary, on your next turn) must be a move action to complete the jump.
So you can't voluntarily end your movement, and then proceed with an attack action. Even if you end your movement mid-air, your next action must be to resume the jump.

The part where things break down is when you mix jumping and falling. You fall 500' the first round and 1000' (Disussed in archives and stated by WOTC somewhere). But if you are jumping out (or jump down) form the edge of a cliff, you could end your movement mid-air per jump rules. Once your jump is complete in the beginning of your next turn you could make one attack or other standard action.

The feats flying kick and leap attack let you do this, even though you normally can't by the rules. Lots of tiger blood maneuvers from Tome of Battle, let you jump as part of your attack for some decent damage.

I like the flavor of the jump attack Hong posted. I play a ninja too, and I have a +22 jump right now. I think that using a jump check to essentially fient an opponent would be way over powered in a Ninja, who gets sudden strike and +6 to jump all in the first few levels.

Feinting is underpowered as-is. A single sudden strike (or sneak attack) is much less than other damage dealers can dish out.
