Jump ranks for gorillas need to be adjusted

According to the MM, a cheetah has no ranks in jump and a 16 Str. An "Ape" has no ranks in Jump and a 21 Str. It looks to me like the ape could easily out jump the cheetah. Of course, the cheetah's sprint ability can make a big difference there.
Furthermore, with a 21 Str, the ape's got +5 Strength bonus to his Jump checks just from that. According to the 3.5 Jump rules, it looks to me like he only needs a 12 or better to make that jump in the first place, provided he had a 20-foot running start. With a +5 Str bonus, he only needed to roll a 7 or better.
"The DC for the Jump is equal to the distance jumped (in feet)."
Of course, since he is probably untrained he would have had to roll a 12 or better to land on his feet.
Those idiots who design the zoos need to read the 3.5 PHB and MM.

The cheeta's base speed already makes a difference. At 50 ft., it gains a +8 bonus to Jump checks.Bloodstone Press said:
