[June] What are you playing?

I'd like to try out Heroes of Might and Magic 5... but I don't know if I want to buy it without being sure about it since HoMM 4 was quite lackluster (3 post-major patching is my favorite). LightPhoenix seems to be enjoying it, though, so I'll check out some of the reviews.

Mwahaha, bolded!

Er...

HoMM5 plays a lot more like 3 than 4. In my opinion, it's more the spiritual successor to HoMM3 than it is to HoMM4. The biggest thing I miss is the paper-doll system for equipment (now it's just seven slots, plus spellbook). Actually, artifacts play a fairly minor role in the game overall. None of them are really interesting. I miss some of the robustness of the spell system too... it just doesn't seem like there are too many spells. That could be just a campaign thing though. Even so, it's a fun game.

Part of my master plan to get you to post your thoughts! ;)

More like 3 is a huge plus. Lack of spells would be kind of annoying (I loved playing necromancers!) but not deal breaking. But, combined with the lack of equipment, I'm not sure. Although I'm glad they didn't go the Warcraft III rout of making heroes extremely important, toning them down might actually be a good thing. I'm gonna read some reviews, maybe a bit of strategy to see how it sounds to me. Thanks. :)

I faded out a bit on WOW and then spent the better part of a month working rather heavily on deckplans for Star Trek (TOS) deckplans in CC2. But recently reactivated my City of Heroes account and have been soloing characters there for the last few weeks.

Heroes in 5 are pretty much like 3. No more all-hero armies.

FreeSpace and Gunroar. I haven't seen any space games that match the FreeSpace series, and watching BSG got me on a star fighter kick. Gunroar is a free top scrolling shooter that's pretty fun for quick games.

Gah...

I bought Oblivion about three weeks ago, and until yesterday, that was about all I did every day (in my free time). I love that game, but it kind of sucks that the only way to take my character past her current level is to wrack up a huge bounty and send her to jail, 'cause I've been playing this one without any jail time, and the highest bounty was only 40. I left the main storyline until later in the game. The only thing that really gets me about that run is that Irene Metrick and Irlav Jarol are dead because at some part I started some violence in the Market District, reloaded the game, and then the buggers went and attacked someone because of their actions before the reload, and thus got killed. Weird, huh? I never downloaded the patch. That probably would of stopped *that*.
Anyway, that character is a Spellsword 49. My first character was a custom class, with Hand to Hand, Light Armour, Block, Athletics, Restoration, Mercantile and Security, which I called a Golden Fist.
Anyway, with the Spellsword, only started the main storyline late, so Oblivion Gates are everywhere, and they're easy to close (especially with invisibility). I don't want to finish because that would mean no more Transcendant Sigil Stones, and she is the Arch Mage, so I can use those for custom equipment. That also has to do with the other thing that sucked. I put some unique stuff in the dresser at the end of the bed in the Arch Mages chamber, and it disappeared, though the dagger I put in the Arch Mages sidetable didnt. I mean, I should have owned every container in that room! That entire school! I was leary of putting stuff in the nightstand because I knew from my first character that that was for a Thieves' Guild quest.
Anyway... as for JUNE, I should probably try and finish Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Hard game for a person who doesn't want their characters killed.

For the PC:
-Half-Life 2: Episode 1
-Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
-Aliens vs. Predator 2

For MMOs:
-Guild Wars
-World of Warcraft

For the Xbox 360:
Mainly waiting on some 360 titles due, hopefully, later in the year (Gears of War, Dead Rising, Mass Effect, Too Human, 99 Nights, Rainbow Six Vegas, Splinter Cell 4, and Alan Wake). Until then, there are a few things that I'm keeping busy with.

-Halo 2 Live (this has been a constant since I signed up for Live in October)
-Oblivion (I need to go finish the Mage and Thief questlines)
-Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (finished it on normal, but I'm going back to do the harder difficulty)

Nintendo DS:
Both these titles are waiting on the Lite release next Sunday. I couldn't bring myself to play them on my DS Huge. Like the 360, after these are done it's basically it until they release some other stuff later in the year (Star Fox: Command, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and Children of Mana).

-Metroid Prime: Hunters
-New Super Mario Bros.

I've also had an itch to play a MegaMan game when I get the Lite, for no logical reason since I loathed MegaMan the last time I played it....in 1992. I looked into what's available for the GBA/DS platform and was discouraged by the tremendous number of, apparently seperate, subfranchises.

Started playing Final Fantasy 1 (again after many years), but my copy won't save so I guess I'm off to track down a PS2 and a copy of the FF Anthology. :(
There is a version of FF Anthology for the Game Boy Advance called Dawn of Souls, which together would be much cheaper than a PS2, so that might be an option.

As for me, been replaying FF9 (going to try and finish the game this time around) and LotZ: Minish Cap (another good reason for getting a GBA)

Or are you someone that had posted in the old and defunct thread and I forgot your name (how embarrassing :heh: )

Join the ENWORLD channel in-game, some of us are often there.

I didn't know about that one. Thanks for the info. However, if I got a PS2, I would also have access to that huge library of RPG's... This one will take some thought...
