D&D 5E Jury duty still ongoing...

Some more honest clear communication and once again the screaming masses fail to rage through the internet.

In other news someone from WotC posts on EN World and is not immediately attacked.

The WotC staff should've taken the jury-duty loophole that serving on jury duty would be detrimental to their business. Unless, of course, he/she has a great debt to serve to Merica.

The jury nullification video is pretty interesting. What irks me is the first condition for jury nullification: juries cannot be punished for a wrong decision. Isn't the idea that there is no "right" or "wrong" until determined by the jury? Isn't anything that the jury decides the "right" decision anyway? Or are the police in charge of this now?

I still don't think Hasbro executives that make the business decisions want an OGL.

Hasbro owns WotC, they don't run WotC. They can tell WotC what to do, and WotC has to do it, but they don't pay attention to things like price points or contracts between WotC and the people they work with.

I am pretty sure they have a business person that was hired to directly address the splintered market and ensure it doesn't happen again. Regardless of how much folks claim it wasn't the reason, the OGL was the reason that a door opened to splinter the D&D market and hurt the brand. I don't see WotC why owned by Hasbro ever allowing that to happen again. It is not now and never will be smart business to allow a great deal of other people share your brand in a way that allows the creation of another game that competes directly with your game.

I expect there to be some kind of licensing for third party products. I also expect it to be more like 4E than 3E. No doors left open for a competing game.

It's a nice change. Last time several posters accused witch of either incompetency or lying or both. This time, we've got a collective shrug. Pleasant change.

It isn't an automatic excuse. I got to serve jury duty even though I'm a solo practice attorney. I had to close my practice for a week. My father- a solo physician- almost got picked for a murder trial that ultimately required a 36 day sequestration.

You have to prove that you're a sole/main provider of income or care for your household, primary guardian & caregiver for a minor child or disabled adult or the equivalent. Deployment by a superior sovereign - IOW, getting called up for your Army Reerve unit, going on a mission while on active duty, etc.- also gets you out.
