Just got off the phone with 3 B&Ns here on Long Island. They said it is not published yet, but I could pre-order..blah blah blah.. The third store confirmed a Hard release date. So I cry

I agree. I just spoke with my local B&N and they have a hard release date of the 20th. They would not even admit that they were in stock yet.

My LGS (Brampton, Ontario), had copies on the shelf when I was at the mall today, so it's not just an isolated incident. Of course, I wouldn't put it past their employees to not know the difference between hard and soft dates...

By LGS you mean a local gaming store? I can't imagine any hobby/gaming store not knowing what KotS is and how much attention it gets. Random 18-year old on mega-stores inventory team screwing up--that I could get my mind around. Staff of a (presumably) small gaming store who's single biggest cash cow is WotC material--that's amazing. Risky, but amazing. I suppose it's possible there's a different lay down date for Canada, I'm not familiar with how things work up there.
