Just Got A MONDO-MAT!

Wow! A five by nine foot Canvas of Death

This thing takes three standard six foot tables set like this =| to hold it alone with no room for player space. I've always believed that a game as epic as 3E needs epic sized locales and this thing lets me just go nuts! Thanks, Chessex...:D

But how do you use this thing?

I have trouble reaching the figures on my own kitchen table with a normal sized battlemat. Plus the space for GM's screen, laptop, dice, etc.

Do you need special telescoping mini-tongs or something? And how do you draw the map on it?

MY Dm picked up one in Feb at DunDraCon, I hven't seen it in use yet though.

I know we play on a 4x8 sheet of Plywood set up on top of the coffe table. Right now we put out 2 mega mats whick cover fairly well but you have the seem going down the center which sucks.

We also keep part of our stuff on the table any way and move it only if we have a huge map to draw. I;m sure with the new one it will be the same, with even the DM having all the stuff on his end, but will no longer have to deal with the split down the center.

I'm using this one on an 7 x 12 foot table. My players set up along the edges without too much trouble. I take up one end of the table. I draw on the Mondo-Mat when needed with wet-erases just like normal Megamat. Most movement is done by the closest player directed by my handy-dandy GM's laser pointer. After using it for a session I can tell you that the PCs that don't fly had a hard time moving up into combat!!;)
