Just got the CD with issues 1-250; What is best, IYNSHO?

The Nine Hells - Issues #75, #76 and #91. (And GG's Sorceror's Scroll in #75, for that matter). I think that had the 1st ed Abishai.

When people refer to the Golden Age of Dragon? They mean this.

See also Gems Galore - #72. This article is as useful now as it was when Ed Greenwood first wrote it.

Virtually all of issue #78 - a psionics special that remains - imo - the best "theme" issue of the Dragon on the Dragon Archive 1-250. A lot of it is very crunchy though - so perhaps not as immediately useful as, say, Gems Galore.

For a great old skool adventure? Check out The Halls of Beol Dur in issue #41. Fun stuff in that one. I've converted this for 3.5. It's just a helluva lot of fun.

To threadjack a bit...

There was an issue of Different Worlds (maybe) that had an alternate psionics system for 1e. It had the disciplines split into different classes and power levels. Anybody know what I'm talking about and which issue it's in?

I don't think it was Different Worlds. Looking through the index, I see nothing that fits.

I wonder if it was Dragon maybe? I know there were definitely alternate psionics rules, with a 1st edition Psionicist class (that got tied into the Deryni issue they did).

Issue 42

A couple of my favorites:

1) Issue 42 - Just a great issue
2) Fiction by Roger Moore. Day of the Dwarf is a great read
3) Issues 75 & 76

A lot of the early Dragons came with adventures. Some of these are rather good.

No, I distinctly remember that is wasn't Dragon, I think it was from '86-'90, timewise. At the time I had a slew of Dragons from that time period and it wasn't there.

White Dwarf, maybe?

BTW, it's cool to look over the DW index and see names that later went on in the gaming industry.
