Just saw "Reign of Fire"

I though it was a cool movie. I loved the dragons (made me tremble in the theater) and I thought it was a decent story. I think it could have been a bit longer. I thought the way the people lived was really interesting. I think they could have elaborated on it more and had a well rounded flick.

After seeing it in the theater, I had weird dragon attack dreams for a week! :D

Capt ! Capt! Dragon on our starboard bow.

Don't worry Capt it feeds on ashes!

But it has huge teeth!

I paid $5 to see and $5 for popcorn and soda. I was robbed of $5 and the popcorn and soda was better than the movie.
And I am a dragon fan.
I didn't even have the heart to cheer for the dragons because everyone was so stupid.

Bad everything except for some of the dragon shots. Especially when it breathed down the castle.

I also saw the review of game. Hope goes to the $2.99 table and then it will still be too much.

I saw Reign of Fire when it was released in theaters. The movie had flickers of potential, but the it fell way, way short.

In addition to the qualms some other posters already mentioned, I have to agree the most with Black Omega. I think it could have been much more interesting if they focused more on the downfall of civilization instead of delivering it in a brief, unsatisfying montage of scenes and news reports.

That being said, I doubt I'll ever watch it again...

Wow. All I can say is wow.

I read through these posts and I feel like I just walked into bar filled with angry film school dropouts.

You guys really don't understand the concept behind going to a movie and enjoying it do you.

I wouldn't put it quite as bluntly as Doc, but i more or less agree in some ways.

No, the plot wasn't very good.
Yes, there were obvious holes in the plot.
Yes, there were places where it could have been SO much better than it was.
Yes, the characters generaly acted moronicly.

But ya know? I still enjoyed the movie. It was *fun*. I can name other movies that were the same way... Independance Day comes to mind. It was *fun*. Not a great movie, no. But *fun*. XXX is a more recent one. Not great, but fun. You know... see it with a few friends, joke around a bit, watch some great special effects and stuff, and just try to enjoy it for what it is?

That said, I'm still not holding out much hope for The Core.

Well, I didn't walk out demanding the last 2 hours of my life back. It was definitely a 'popcorn' flick. Still, there was nothing very engaging in the movie. Nothing truly reaches out and grabs you that makes you want to talk about with your friends over and over once you leave the theater, or fast forward to that one scene when the DVD is released.

All in all, it was very unmemorable... and I think that's one of the worst things you can say about any movie.

According to an interview in Empire film magazine (UK) the reason that they didn't do a more Independance Day style movie was lack of budget and also, well, it had been done by Independance Day! They wanted to do something else.

I thought it was in the big-dumb-and-fun style...and I loved the male dragon sneaking up on the castle section.

The biggest weakness of the film was the misleading poster.

Well, technically, they ARE entitled to say that they didn't like the movie. Saying that anyone who posts a negative review of a movie is elitist and pretentious is really kind of silly.

I mean, on a thread discussing the movie, people really ought to be allowed to say that they thought it sucked. If these same people always say that everything sucked, then you just take that into account when listening to them.

Didn't see Reign of Fire, didn't feel a driving need to. Pritnear every review I saw said "The dragons are neat, the movie blows," and I could see the dragons in the commercial.
