Kaiser's Bazaar Books "D" and up release dates?

haiiro

First Post
I just bought my first two d20 PDFs ever, books A & B of the Kaiser's Bazaar series from Mad Kaiser Games. I plan to cherry-pick the heck out of them for my campaign, and at $5 a pop they're a great deal.

Looking at RPG Now's listing, I see a few upcoming titles mentioned:

- The Underplaza
- Arena Cross
- White Barras
- Nightmarket
- The Gurduk-Muck

I'm curious about all of them -- and in particular when they're coming out -- but Nightmarket is the one that jumps out at me.

Does anyone have details on these titles?

I don't have a clue. I just wanted to say that I am a big fan of "collections of stuff" (Aurora's Whole Realm's Catalogue, anyone?), and will buy every single one of these that comes out as long as they're on RPGnow.

Mad Kaiser won't be able to respond for awhile as he was banned because of some inflammatory statements he made on another thread. I can't help you either. Just thought you might like to know why you have received no responses... :\

Thanks, Morpheus -- I wondered if he'd been involved in that.

Now first off, thank-you for choosing the Kaiser's Bazaar as your first purchase! I noticed you have A & B, have you tried Kaiser's Bazaar - Book C? Cheap plug? Yes, I am a whore!

Secondly, work has started on a compilation of books A-C for print. It will be a reworking of the original, new art (maps, pictures of items, etc), and some exclusive new stores and lists just for the compilation.

Many of the stores and such are developed already. They are a collection of stores from old campaigns brought up-to-date mixed with new creations. It's really just fluff-work, organization and clean-up! (I could just pelt you with item lists, but I hope the Bazaar setting is at least a little inspirational...) It really started as one book, but there is no way anyone would pay $50+ for a 400+ page pdf!

The focus for next few months will be "boosters" that fill in the missing raw materials, specificaly leathers, furs, and hides, gems and crystals, stone, etc. There will also be some boosters that add to the established markets from the first three books (new stores in Ravensbourne Alley, The Circle Of Woodworkers, etc) These boosters will be shorter and less expensive (shooting for a comfortable $2.50 pricetag) This will allow for more freedom to customize the market as you see fit, improves existing sections, and should get new sections out faster.

I'll make you a deal, haiiro: You leave an honest review for Kaiser's Bazaar on Enworld, you'd be doing Mad Kaiser Games a favor. If you do MKG a favor, the Nightmarket will be the focus of Book D. You can also feel free to leave any request or coments here, as in what you would like to see in future works; they will be given weight. (Also bear in mind we are working on our first book made specialy for d20 Modern; very top-secret right now, but very, very cool... shhhh...)

Finally, if you are looking for a good book to "pick cherries" while you wait, I suggest The Hero's Handbook by Bloodstone Press. It's HUGE, and it's full of stuff that begs to be picked and tweaked.

I normaly don't care about the usually petty things you see on message boards, but the solid week of insults towards me, RPGNow, my colleagues and the "crybabies" who dared challenge DRM made my blood boil right over. (You don't get the alias "Mad Kaiser" by being mellow!) I *know* the truth about DRM, and couldn't believe anyone would portray it as "great news!" with a straight face. I also doubted that anyone who could sugar-coat that bitter poison could be trusted or honest on other subjects. I got my time-out for calling Steve Wieck a "liar" and his DRM "garbage". I'm sorry if anyone else felt insulted or angry, but it was just my childish and untempered frustration spilling out. Please forgive my outbursts and do not hold RPGNow or any other pdf-publishers a grudge for my big mouth. I'm tired of this crap and have moved far on, I hope you can too.

(I've heard that some people were permanently banned, and I can only say yikes! I thought I lost my temper! Instead blowing another vein, I used my week to wisely avoid message boards and finished painting up my Khorne Army. At least something came of it :heh: )

Book C didn't look like it would be as directly useful to me, so I figured I'd see how much use I got out of A & B before picking it up.

Neat. :) Any idea when this will be ready to go?

I'm not sure I have what it takes to write a good review (which is why I've never done one). That said, I did add Book A to the product database -- no reviews can be added until it's been approved, though. ;)

I'm excited about seeing the Nightmarket, and your offer is an interesting one. :)

The Bazaar books seem like they'd fit in well in most worlds -- I'd like to see an examination of fantasy medieval commerce that's done in the same vein.

I found myself in the mood to take a stab at reviewing The Kaiser's Bazaar - Book A this afternoon, so I did. I was certainly motivated by Kaiser's offer to make Nightmarket the next book in the series, but I set this aside and didn't let it influence my review -- though it's my first review, I take that sort of thing very seriously.

Anyhoo, here it is: http://www.enworld.org/reviews/index.php?sub=yes&where=active&reviewer=haiiro&product=TKBBA. I had fun writing it, and I'm pleased with how it came out.

Now get cracking on Nightmarket! ;)

Fair enough! (You're going to want it, hehe  ) It would help me make the hard sell to other customers if I knew what you are looking for from Books A & B. Is it the item lists, or is it the flavor?

Aiming for a Late-July to Mid-August release, but nothing is certain yet. Your enthusiastic response encourages faster work!

I understand that, reviews are hard to write. If you're that excited, and unless I hear a chorus to the contrary, the Nightmarket will be next. I'll give you a teaser of my favorite parts: Illegal Bloodsports.

Elaborate, please. Would you like to see a more "realistic" selection of medieval stores, or would you like to see a rearrangement of the more mundane items that "feels" authentic. The second choice is already worming it's way into the compilation.

My current campaign is based in a large city, so I was mainly interested in two things: flavorful descriptions of market locations from which to steal ideas (or use as-is), and lists of interesting items. I bought Book B first, since it focuses on the more exotic markets. After reading it and liking it, I went back and picked up Book A to see what you'd done with the more mundane stuff.

Hrm. Neither, although I'm not 100% sure I understand what either of your suggestions mean. ;)

What I was getting at was a look at how traditional D&D elements -- particularly magic and adventurers -- influence the way a market like the Kaiser's Bazaar works. Who are you going to be rubbing shoulders with when you're at the exotic fish pet store? How do the merchants use magic in their businesses, and how are businesses in general affected by it? (Etc.)

This doesn't seem on-topic for the Bazaar series, but I thought you were asking for requests in general.
