Karen Wynn Fonstad passes away

Hey folks, i thought i'd take a minute to pass on this sad news. Karen Wynn Fonstad, noted cartographer of fantasy atlases i'm sure we've all seen at one point or another (including Dragonlance, FR, LotR, and Pern), passed away on March 11th due to complications from breast cancer. her full obituary can be seen here .

Her work was fantastic stuff, and really made Dragonlance come alive for me as i immersed myself in her maps and traced the path of chronicles and legends. She will be missed.

That is sad news. Her Lord of the Rings Atlas is the definitive work in that field, in my opinion. Which, luckily, means her legacy will live on for a long time.

That is sad news. I was a huge fan of her Forgotten Realms Atlas. It was a great accessory.

That's sad news. Her The Land and Middle-Earth maps were very influencial in my formative years.

She also did one for Pern as well as the Atlas of the Land for Thomas Covenant.
