Keen observations?

Indecision is a terrible thing ...

Given free reign to spend your money on magic items, would your character choose to purchase a +1 Keen Scythe, to double the chance of that whopping x4 crit multiplier, or would you rather spend the gold in some other fashion?

Thanks for your input.

For what type of character? Personally, I've never had a character use a scythe, so I'd use it for something else. Also, I perfer defense to offense. So, I'd spend the money on some good armor and a shield. Or one of thewose itemns that is extremely versatile. Like a Gizmo of curelight wounds. :D

there are no better ways to spend your money if you want a scythe using character,

i usually go with the +1 keen rapeir/scimtar approach, this becomes freakish at high level, imagine criticaling on two consecutive rolls of12 (imp' crit' feat as well, obviously) that's X2 damage on a verry high % of your successful attacks, most hits will be threats. this was what made my druid assassin so cool, he had two of them, but they were +3, keen. he was deadly. i never got to put vorpal on them. lol that would have rocked

Keen is most effective at the two critical extremes, the scimitars 18-20 threat range and the X4 multiplier weapons. Since your cythe is a X4 it will be nice to get the X4 twice as often. I would say go for it. It will make a very flavorful weapon as well, "The keen scythe is great for mowing down monsters." Ok maybe that's just a bad pun.

If you go for the keen scythe, make sure to pick up the Power Critical Feat. It allows you to have an automatic threat, i.e. You roll to hit once, and if you hit, it's an automatic critical. Verrrrrrry nice with a keen scythe.
