Keep on The Shadowfell Reminds me of:

I cut my teeth on that adventure. Good times, good times...

Me to. It was the first game I ever played.

How is it similar to KotS? Spoilers please!

We've heard a lot about crunch, but an adventure synopsis would be awesome.

Oh, that's where I started!

A black box you say, huh? Ooooo, naughty ;)

I never really undestood the differences between red, blue, fucsia boxes anyway. I believe this was the only D&D in portuguese sold here in Brazil, back in the day...

Good times... :D

Zanzer Tem's dungeon... still have the map and my first set of dice is from there, but the rules got sent away (along with the box). Mothers and charity work, huh :(

Sorry no spoilers. I didn't mean the adventures synopsis was similar. Just that the way it's set up... Predefined characters, rules to get you to a certain low level, with rules interspersed throughout the adventure. A learn by doing style game product.

I really like the idea.

A few differences:

-Zanzer's dungeon didn't use pregens. You made your character as you played.

-By the time you finished Zanzer's dungeon, you knew how to play the entire basic D&D game. Sure, there were some monsters and spells that wouldn't come along until after 5th level, but that adventure set someone up for a good while. Since the basic D&D game was so simple, there wasn't really a need to hold back rules-wise (unlike Shadowfell, which can't possibly present all the rules for low-level characters within its page count).

-Zanzer's dungeon was set up so that you learned roughly one rule per encounter, with the dungeon being designed around introducing a new aspect of the game with each room. I don't think that's exactly true of Keep on the Shadowfell.
