Keep on the Shadowfell Spotlight Interview

I question how many people will actually want to play this with the pregens. I've never been a big fan of playing a character that basically isn't mine.

I think a lot of folks who are still sitting on the fence will buy this to see how it plays; I'd expect they'd be the core audience of people actually using the pregens. For my own purposes I can't engage in an RPG unless the character is my own so I know what you mean.
But in this case I'll almost certainly be running it, so it's a moot point. My players all have some familiarity with 3.x to some degree or another (I just moved across the country a few months ago) so the learning curve should be about on par with my own with a new edition.
I *am* starting to wonder how to hanlde chargen without books. Likely as not I'll be houseruling chargen with the pdf rules lite* and if everyone enjoys then plunk down for the books and do the characters properly.)

* everyone should go thank Verys Arkon for that pdf. Right now. IMHO. :D

my players were also concerned about playing pregens , but after the first session didn´t want to change anything about their picked char.... and that´s withut an official adventure....
so i plan to play this one with the ddxp pregens... if the ones provided by kots aren´t way cooler...
but personally i can`t wait for the core books.... were a cheap preorder here in germany...

I just want to hear about more playtests and demos, and am sick of the D&DXP pre-gens.

Also, I want to see more variance. I'm STARVIN' for my 4e books, yo.

While I couldn't WAIT for KotS so I could run it with my playgroup, I think now I'm just going to use those two weeks to read and prepare, and be ready to run everything on June 8th. (June 7th I'm DMing at my gameshop all day for the owner.)

I'll probably do a short game at the shop or something, but I think I'll enjoy having two weeks to read over and become thoroughly familiar with KotS, then June 6th the group can make characters, and we can kick off our campaign on the 8th. (I'm going to run the whole adventure path that WotC is kicking out, actually--I'm not up to writing my own campaign again.)

I'm psyched to pick this up. It looks like there are both kobolds AND goblins in this adventure, which is a little odd.

Not that weird. That's the way it was in Sunless Citadel.

As to the pre-gens, we'll be using them because my group's one of those mentioned by someone else - my friends aren't sure about 4e, so I'm going to buy and run KotS ASAP and see if we enjoy it before we shell out for the core books. Therefore, the pre-gens are the way to go.

a question btw...
if i preorder do i get these books the day they appear on the store shelves?

Doubtful, since they have to ship from England to Germany. It's possible, but I have yet to experience it, and I live at similar distance from England.

Also good for newbies who are unsure about learning a complicated system.
